Humans have a very important role in the unity of man and nature. We in fact are an organized whole and encompass both being a part of nature and managing nature. The ancient Chinese metaphysics concept of the Three Essences (Sān Cái 三才) - Heaven, Earth and Humankind, can be applied and seen in various aspects of our life, and in concepts such as harmony of body, mind and spirit. In this short introductory webinar, see how the integration of these Three Essences apply within Acupuncture itself, as well as in our life as a whole. This course provides a brief introduction to the basic foundations of the metaphysical origins and framework of Sān Cái 三才 → The Three Essences of life in Chinese Metaphysics. The Three Essences are the ancient Chinese metaphysics concept of the unity and harmony of man and natural law - Heaven - Tiān 天, Earth - Rén 人 and Humankind - Dì 地. This concept can be applied and seen in various aspects of our life, and in aspects such as the harmony of body, mind and spirit. Students will learn some history of Feng Shui, Astrology and the Five Elements/Phases, and have a peek into how it is integrated with Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

In this webinar, Professor Gumenick will present the components of a Classical Five-Element Acupuncture initial interview. Attendees will learn about the specific areas of inquiry that constitute a medical history, personal history, and systems review. Attendees will learn the skills of looking and questioning deeper than surface responses to glean the diagnostic information as to the underlying elemental imbalance (AKA Causative Factor), which is the key to Classical Five-Element treatment.

Post treatment videos follow, after which, Neil analyzes the changes in the patient, particularly from the viewpoint of the vocal sound and emotion. Neil will then share the post treatment pulse findings, and strategize the next several treatments, with full explanations of each point chosen. Different videos, patients, diagnoses, and treatment plans are presented in each session, offering a wide range of case studies, diagnoses, and strategies to be discussed and analyzed. Notes for download are provided.

In ancient Chinese medicine, the pictograph for sex is ‘Boiling Water.’ This implies that sexuality involves the element of Water, which symbolizes the desire for procreation, the element of Wood, for sexual drive and performance, the element of Fire for sexual excitement, and for orgasm. The Earth element contributes affection and sexual bonding, and the Metal element contributes fantasy and self-knowledge about sexual desires. In this 6-hour recorded workshop, participants will learn how to read the signs of sexuality that are apparent in Chinese Facial Diagnosis within the Five-Element framework. Diagnostically, the problems with sexual desire, sexual dysfunction, and signs of hormonal fluctuations will be discussed, in relation to facial features. Treatment plans will be advised physiologically and psycho-emotionally and from the perspective of ancient Daoist alchemy, presented in a practical and updated way. The webinar will include fertility, conception, pregnancy issues, and reproductive organ health signs as they show on the face.
An authority on Face Reading and Diagnosis, Lillian Bridges has been teaching for over 30 years on the topic, and is the founder of The Lotus Institute. She is a featured speaker worldwide.

The course provides an introduction to some of the electromagnetic properties of fascia, and why western researchers are now suspecting that electrical flow in fascia corresponds with the “mysterious meridians of Chinese medicine.” This course covers: Conversion from one type of channel Qi to another, and the locations of these conversions; how channel Qi creates organs, and not the other way around; how we can learn to feel the differences between one channel and another; how different types of channel Qi might be responsible for the development of the various sensory brain cells; The importance of always bearing in mind the sequence of the channel Qi flow when diagnosing a health problem. The case study demonstrates using channel theory to track down the very unexpected, multiple, channel blockages causing the patient to have thirty years of chronic migraines, weakness on one side of her body, and why her knee, ankle, neck, and 6th rib on her right side were always “popping out of place.” None of the traditional Pattern diagnoses helped her condition - tongue and pulse showed weakness, but didn’t help show what the problem actually was; this course will illuminate the processes used to solve the issue.

This learning module is part of the KHT Advanced Topics Series, which covers more challenging topics following the basic courses. This course is the second of four parts that cover Three Constitutions Diagnosis. Three Constitutions Diagnosis is one of the main diagnostic methods in KHT; understanding the theory and protocols will enable the practitioner to determine the energetic excess and deficiency patterns of the twelve body meridians. This information provides a guide to selecting the most appropriate meridian to restore energetic balance. Part 2 covers the theory and development of the energetic patterns of the twelve meridians in each of the three constitutions: Yin, Kidney, and Yang Excess Constitutions.

People have traits which individualize them. These traits manifest in their talents, predispositions, and strengths. Chinese Face Reading helps recognize these tendencies, and how they are reflected in facial features. This can help to find the right person for the job, or the right job for the person. Recognizing such signs such as of one who: needs to be in charge, is a good cooperative follower, doesn't listen to others well, is a strongly practical person, is a strong intellectual, makes an ideal receptionist, or is a cautious investor, can all be helpful in our integrative working lives. This course also addresses the different five element qualities in work, and how to appreciate someone who works in a wood way, or in a metal way, and thus, enhance this value.

This audio/visual course by master acupuncturist Kiiko Matsumoto presents a detailed approach to common, severe digestive problems. It includes a presentation of the 9 Star system, which is a foundational part of Chinese Medical thought. In Chinese Medical theory, the 5 Elements/10 Stems are considered related to the heavenly level. The 12 branches, 12 meridians, 12 yearly cycles are considered related to earthly level. The middle level between these is the 9 stars, the human level, between heaven and earth. Each section of the nine star map relates to one of the five elements, and 3 of the 9 star areas relate to Earth. This class discusses these positions of the earth element on the abdomen, the direct relationship to the small intestine, and many digestive disorders that reflect on the abdomen (hara) with this exact pattern of pressure pain. Theory and didactic information is given on how to approach digestive disorders that may clearly have the diagonal 9 Star pattern of earth/small intestine pressure pain on the abdomen (hara), A base treatment of left SI 3, right Bl 62 is worked up, with multiple variations. Emotional and physical trauma accompany many painful digestive conditions, and is addressed using acupuncture points over related brain pain/memory areas.
Kiiko Matsumoto is a licensed acupuncturist, internationally recognized for her scholarly work interpreting the Chinese Classics and her unique and practical acupuncture style that integrates the work of important Japanese masters. An author on numerous acupuncture texts, she maintains a private practice in Boston and frequently lectures around the world.
