Overview

Do you know about the Moxa Seasons? Every year there are several two-week windows based on the lunar calendar, where the Ming Men (the Gateway to the Kidney) is wide open. Because of this, every moxa treatment has a more than double effect on the constitution, however, getting sick during moxa season can cause one to be very ill, causing severe repercussions throughout the entire year. Learn more, and how to use moxa heat packs (no smoke), with Susan Johnson, L.Ac.

Overview

Auricular Medicine is a specialty within Traditional Chinese Medicine that has its roots in the Huang Di Nei Jing and some of its branches in Western Medicine. Using the micro-system of the Auricle, Auricular Medicine has developed into an incredibly sophisticated system of both diagnosis and treatment of all bio-systems of the body. The diagnosis is remarkably comprehensive and accurate. Without a patient interview, or history, the examination alone provides the doctor with more information than the patient’s intake paperwork. Treatment can relieve acute pain within seconds. Dr. TruthSayer’s introduction includes many interesting cases from her clinical practice.

Overview

As practitioners of Chinese medicine, we are quick to celebrate the “ancient” or “traditional” or “classical” roots of our beloved medicine, but all too often ignore or fail to comprehend the full implications of the ancient wisdom. What does the Yellow Emperor mean by that famous exhortation from the Great Treatise on the Resonant Manifestations of Yin and Yang that is usually translated as “to treat disease, seek the root!”? Sabine looks forward to exploring with you the full potential of Chinese medicine in the midst of a pandemic that so clearly reveals the limitations of biomedicine and the extractive mindset of our modern world, at a time when needling patients is not an option in most parts of the world. Let us take a closer look at this saying in its context, and explore what this really means for the contemporary practice of Chinese medicine. Ultimately, we shall contemplate with Laozi that “The way that can be used as a way (or in other words, the Dao that can be taught) is not the constant way.”

Overview

From a Chinese Medicine perspective, viruses can be considered an external pathogenic Wind that invades the body. But not everyone gets sick; why is that? Some immune systems are better equipped to deal with these invasions. Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that everyone can enhance their immunity to better prepare against viral invasions and other pathogens. In this lecture, Peilin Li will give you an introduction to how viruses work from both Western and Chinese Medicine perspectives. He will also teach you how you can use self-massage, or acupressure, to enhance your overall immunity and protect against invasions.

How the Classical Chinese View on Emotions Can Help Us Today

with Elisabeth Rochat de la Vallée

Recording

from April 13, 2020

Register for FREE!

Overview

As human beings, we cannot be without emotions. At the same time, emotions disturb us to the point that we act no more with reason or intelligence. When a situation triggers an emotion, it is usually an important matter needing an accurate reaction, true to life; and it is precisely that what the emotions prevent us to do. The classical Chinese medicine’s approach of emotions, specially agitation and anxiety, exposes what happens inside ourselves, in our heart-mind, as well as in our blood and qi, our organs, and gives leads to regulate ourselves and to come back to a more balanced assessment of the situation and efficient action.

We generally know how herbs work either from Chinese or scientific theory or a combination of both. But why do they work? What in the history of plants, animals, and evolution created the benefits of these healthy little bundles? This lecture will examine these questions, in a mind-opening and scientific (but not overwhelming) approach, by exploring Gaia theory, planetary autopoiesis, DNA, and Plant–Human Coalitions.
