In this course Paul Movsessian will cover:
Introduction to general use and application of direct moxibustion: Application amount of moxa is based on the constitution of the patient and whether they are dealing with a deficient or excess condition. General Information on Moxibustion used in Direct Moxa and Special Points, History of Direct Moxa in Classical Literature, Case Studies on the use and Explanation of Direct Moxa in Hot Conditions - How Yang Moxa Can Create Yin Fluids, Research Study on Direct Moxa to treat Spleen Qi and Yang Deficiency Fatigue.
Finding the Alive Point for Moxa: In Japan, the concept of living and functioning points is often ascribed to Takeshi Sawada. Points are more than anatomical landmarks; they are manifestations of a functional problem in the body. As such, they are normally dormant, becoming active when a pathological condition begins to form. Point location based solely on anatomical knowledge will be less effective than live assessment.
Making Shiunko Ointment Or Purple Cloud Cream: Shiunko is used with okyu (direct moxa) to both protect the skin and to allow for the moxa to stick to the skin.
Moxa Training Board And Paper For Direct Moxibustion.
Okyu - Direct Moxibustion: Various styles and methods of rolling and using okyu as well as dosage of application.
Taikyoku Treatment Protocol, History and Theory of Takeshi Sawada, Shimetarō Hara, and Isaburo Fukaya.
Theory and various Bamboo Tubes from Fukaya and Junji Mizutani and treatment protocols.
Paul Movsessian is a practitioner of Traditional East Asian Medicine, having been trained by some of the greatest teachers of Japan, and being in practice for 35 years. He lectures extensively and takes great joy in sharing the clinical pearls he has been given and has collected over the years.

Moxibustion is ancient. Even more ancient than needling. In modern acupuncture, however, it is often considered too time-consuming, too risky or too difficult to master. And yet the classics say: for chronic conditions, moxa has no equal.
Coming to the rescue of time-poor, risk-averse, present-day acupuncturists is the Ontake Method from Japan. This innovative approach uses a piece of bamboo filled with burning moxa wool to roll, tap and press on the meridians using a metronome programmed to each meridian's frequency. The rhythmic application of heat, frequency and pressure triggers rapid shifts in your patients' body condition and mood but this method generates only a little smoke.
In this course, you will learn:
(1) Dr Manaka's meridian frequencies and how to apply them
(2) Protocols for symptom relief
(3) Protocols for whole-body regulation
(4) The integration of Dr Tan's holographic models with Ontake for the rapid relief of pain
Presented by Oran Kivity and compered by Michael Max from the Qiological podcast, the format is varied and dynamic, with lectures, PowerPoints, group Q&A sessions and teaching videos. Each lesson is linked to a section in a fifty-page workbook packed with learner-centred quizzes and exercises. Engagingly filmed, produced and edited to hold the attention of distance learners, Moxa in Motion presents a step-by-step guide to utilizing the Ontake Method that will leave you confident in your new skills and more effective in your practice.
British acupuncturist Oran Kivity trained in Europe, China, and Japan. In practice since 1987, he has ignited interest in the Ontake Method, a rhythmic moxibustion method from Japan.

Prickling Neuro Stimulation is a relatively new form of needle-less acupuncture developed by Dr. Hiroshi Nagata, a neurosurgeon in Japan. PNST is still a unknown entity in the field of acupuncture. It is used mainly for treating a variety of pain related conditions. But its role in non-pain conditions is also known.
PNST is an easy to incorporate technique. It does not require the practitioner to insert needles. It applies a quick prickling stimulation to the skin surface with a pointed tool. The acupuncturist does not need a complicated diagnosis before starting treatment. It is simple to learn, fast, effective and pain free form of treatment. It can be incorporated alongside classical acupuncture treatment if need be.
This webinar explains all the theories associated with PNST including both the western and eastern explanations for the same. Some of the western explanations include stimulation of the peripheral nerves with the PNST probe, dermatomal activation of the nerves to affect specific pain areas on the body, balancing of the autonomic nervous system, etc. Eastern explanations include mechanisms like mind body integration, encourages body to regain natural healing power, etc.
Basic PNST protocol along with the point locations are explained in a very simplified manner using visual presentations. PNST for treating individual pain conditions is outlined in a lucid step by step manner.
