Overview

Treating Shoulder Injury and Pain is designed for the orthopedic and sports acupuncturist. This course emphasizes diagnosis and assessment, with all treatment plans and choice of points based upon anatomical factors. Included are trigger points, motor points, and muscle-tendon junctions. Easy-to-understand treatment plans are presented, resulting in increased clinical effectiveness. The following structures are covered in this three-hour course:

(1) The supraspinatous muscle and tendon. Highlights: SI 12, LI 16, and LI 15, among other points.
(2) The Infraspinatous muscle and tendon. Highlights: SI 11, SJ 14, and zones in the region of SI 9.75.
(3) The Acromial-clavicular joint. Highlights: LI 16, LI 15, and the zone of LI 15.5.

Being in the forefront of the acupuncture sports medicine field, Whitfield's experience includes working with athletes at the 1984 LA Olympic Games at the 1984 LA Olympic Games and countless other sport competitions since. He is an author, he teaches internationally as well.
